Barbara Gail Purdy

OTISFIELD – On May 7, 2023, Barbara Gail Purdy, loving widow, mother, sister and grandmother, passed away at the age of 73.

Barbara was born on July 15, 1949 in Lynn, Mass. to Joseph Callan Henry Douglas and Helen MacDonald. On Sept. 17, 1971, she married Christopher Purdy and they raised two children, Heather and Seth. Barbara loved spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren.

Barbara’s zest for life and having fun was contagious. She enjoyed hours in her flower gardens for many years. She loved dancing, music and impromptu dance parties around the campfire or anywhere there were people to join her.

Barbara is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Ryan Paradis, her son and fiancé, Seth Purdy and Heather McCabe; her grandchildren, Jason, Sarah and Miranda; her sister Jean Alderson and husband Craig, her sister Carol Lynch and husband Thomas, her brother Robert MacDonald and wife Lori, brother-in-law Robert Williamson; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Christopher Purdy, sisters Kathy MacDonald and Elaine Williamson.

Barbara’s family would like to extend sincere thanks to her dear friend Denise who gave amazing care and support to Barbara and the whole family during the past several months.

At Barbara’s request, there will be no formal services. In lieu of a formal service, there will be a celebration of life at a later date where dancing to Michael Jackson will be essential.
