To the Editor:
It’s almost time for the 28th Annual Bethel Library Plant Sale. This event is a wonderful way for gardeners to share or purchase perennials and other plants while raising funds for the Bethel Library. Several community members have asked about this event, and we want to reassure you that we will be having the sale this spring. It will be held on the lawn next to the library on Saturday, June 17 from 9 to 11 a.m.

This date is a little later than usual, and before then many gardeners will have discovered that one or two adventurous perennials have begun to dominate their flower beds. We sincerely ask that you save some of those feisty perennials to share with us.

The beautiful flower that is flourishing at your home, and needs to be culled, is often just what someone else is searching for on the day of the sale. Also, if you’re wondering what to do with any extra vegetables, seedlings, or herbs, please think of us.

As many readers realize, our library has been a private institution from its inception almost 150 years ago, and we are a non-profit organization that survives and thrives thanks to community members like you.

Tags to mark your plants are available at the library (824-2520) or call me at 890-7243. We’re happy to pot up any healthy plants that you would like to donate. Whether you plan to donate plants, shop for your garden, or both, we look forward to seeing you soon!
