Randall Kroken
LISBON FALLS – Randall L. Kroken 85, of Lisbon Falls, passed away after a long battle with lung disease. He was born in Lisbon in his mother’s bed to Marjorie (Spasham) and LeRoy Card. She was later remarried to Alfred Kroken. Randall was educated in the LISBON schools and graduated from Lisbon High in 1956. Upon graduation he entered into Maine Vocational Technical Institute (MVTI) in South Portland. Upon graduating from MVTI he enrolled into Maine’s Apprentice Program at the Bath Iron Works Electrical Department. Then in 1960 he married his one and only sweetheart, Constance J. Janec. She was the daughter of Frank and Mary Janec. They adopted two children a girl, Justine and a boy Randy. He always thanked God for only making two kinds for it was all he could handle. They remained sweethearts right down to the end. After completing 8000 hours of classes he graduated and went to work at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston. While working at MIT he enrolled at Northeast College to obtain his degree in Electrical Engineering. He was then hired by a new company known as MRAD as an Electronic Tech. This company dealt in the production of shock and vibration instruments. It wasn’t too long before he became the Senior Electronic Engineer of this company. He also enrolled into the Institute of Environmental Sciences (IES). He was elected the President of the Boston Chapter. After completing his term he became a National Director for the (IES) and held this position for thirteen years. Also became Vice President of MRAD. Finally in 1997, after living and working in Massachusetts for 35 year he retired at the age of 59 and moved back to where he always called home Lisbon Falls, Maine. It wasn’t too long before he discovered that retirement was not his thing so he started working for a local contractor, Bob Strout, building houses finally started his own company, Edgewater Carpentry. From his workshop in Lisbon Falls he hand crafted Adirondack furniture, lawn décor, lighthouses, and windmills. They were sold to people who always appreciated a piece of Maine. He always remained active and at the age of 85 claimed if he got up in the morning with something to do he was 85, but if he got up with nothing to do he felt 95. Randall is survived by Daughter Justine and husband Frank Fucci, two grandsons Nick and Joey Fucci, son Randy, sister Patricia White.
He was predeceased by his wife Constance, mother Marjorie, biologic father Leroy Card, adopted father Al Kroken, stepfather Gene Babson and younger sister Donna Kroken, and brother-in law David White.
