LEWISTON – Roger A. Mathon, 79, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at his home with his loving wife of 59 years by his side. 

Roger was born in Lewiston on July 9, 1943, to Ernest and Bernadette Mathon. Roger loved to play cards, fish, camp, gamble at the casino and spend time with family and friends. Roger married Carmen Ferland on July 1, 1963. The two were each other’s lifelong companions and friends.

Roger worked at Hahnel Bros. and Bath Iron Works.

Roger is survived by his wife Carmen, two sons Mike and wife Jackie, Jim and wife Mona, Sister Rita and husband Richard, Sister In law Aline, grandchildren Jessica and husband Jordan, Maegan and husband Dylan, Joe and wife Sarah, Jennifer and husband Kyle, Nick. Great grandchildren Haley, Morgan, Caleb, Connor, Bella, Sam, Penelope and Lucy. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 15, from 4-6 p.m., at The Fortin Group in Lewiston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 16, at 11 a.m., at Holy Cross Church, followed by Committal Prayers at St. Peter’s Cemetery. 

The family would like to thank the staff at the Central Maine Medical Center Cancer Care Center for all they did for Roger during his illness. A very special thank you to Julie Booker for always going above and beyond during his care.
