100 Years Ago: 1923

Thomas Paradis of Lewiston has made several good catches at Lake Auburn this spring. His largest salmon thus far weighed 41/2 pounds. A few other local fishermen have succeeded in hooking one or two fish at the lake this spring. but all are waiting for a little warm weather in the hope that it will improve the appetite of trout and salmon in those waters.

50 Years Ago: 1973

Libby of the University of Maine at Orono and Mrs. Libby were honored last night at Lost Valley, Auburn, by the Androscoggin Valley University of Maine Alumni Club, and the Libbys are seen above with Paul Dowe of Turner, program co-chairman (with Mrs. Marguerite Dury of Lewiston). Also honored was Donald C. Stewart, UMO executive secretary, who is also retiring in June. The Libbys were presented with a ship’s bell for their home in Steube, and Mr. and Mrs. Stewart received a UMO door knocker.

25 Years Ago: 1998

The watercolors of Melanie Ness of Auburn, will be featured during May at Central Maine Technical College, 1250 Turner St., Auburn Gallery hours: Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
