Phyllis Marie Woodsum

WAYNE – Surrounded by family Phyllis Marie Woodsum, 94, died on May 12, 2023. Phyllis, born Sept. 17, 1928, was raised in Medford with her three siblings by a single mother (Helen Tolman) during the Depression in Massachusetts.

In February 1949 she married George A. Woodsum, a pilot and Captain in the Army Air Corps, at Tufts University Chapel. At 50 years old Mom went to college at Western Connecticut State College earning her bachelors and master’s degrees in Secondary Education. This led to a 25-year career teaching at Lewiston High School where she was affectionately known as Meme.

Phyllis will be held dear to the hearts of her family and friends as her spirit surrounds us all in love.
