Thomas H. Cushman

SOUTH PARIS – Thomas H. Cushman, Jan. 17, 1941 – May 12, 2023, 84, passed peacefully with his wife by his side at Market Square Health Care Center in South Paris.

He was born in Lebanon, NH, to Henry H. and Eileen M. Cushman. They moved to Oxford in 1956 where Thomas attended Norway High School and met the love of his life, Linda Seube. After Thomas graduated from high school, he went on to join the Union Ironworkers Apprentice program graduating as their outstanding apprentice. He took great pride in his trade, working himself up to Journeyman, Forman, General Foreman, and Superintendent. He was an Apprentice Coordinator for incoming apprentices and eventually became president of Union Ironworker Local 496.

Thomas was active in his community. He joined the Masonic Lodge in 1968 holding many positions until becoming Master in 1973. He was recently awarded a pin commemorating his 55 year membership. He was a member of Kora Shrine and Order of the Eastern Star. He served as president of Oxford’s Historical Society and was president of his Florida condo association.

His interests included hunting, fishing, boating, old cars, spending time in the woods, and spending many happy years at his camp in Pittsburg, NH.

Thomas was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Eileen Cushman. He is survived by his wife Linda of 65 years and their three children, Lane Cushman (fiancé Debora Reynolds), Susan Gillen, and Jennifer Gagnon (husband Troy Gagnon); granddaughter Kelsey Allen (husband Gage Allen); and great granddaughter Bailee Allen. Tom is also survived by his brother Peter Cushman (wife Licia Cushman).

Services will be held at Oxford Hills Funeral Services, 1037 Main Street, Oxford, on May 21, 2023 at 2 p.m. Graveside service to follow with a celebration of life to be held at the Oxford American Legion Hall.
