Gwen Alice (Wakefield) Wulleman

OXFORD – Gwen Alice (Wakefield) Wulleman, born Feb. 7, 1953, to John and Hilda Wakefield, found peace and went home to The Lord early Friday morning, May 12, 2023.

Family and friends supported her on her journey through a brief illness.

Adored wife of Roger; caring mother to Bethany, Sharlene (and her fiancée Mike) and Chad (and wife Az), stepmother to Kevin (and his wife Kristen) and Jennifer (and her fiancée Lennie); cherished nana to Desmond and Kameron, step-nana to Derek, Jadelyn, Luke and Lucy; sister to Ann, Roy, John and Craig; friend to many, including lifelong friend, Judi Gondalfo and dearest friends Shirlee Thislewood and Evelyn Wedding.

Lover of Shelties, knitter of afghans, cultivator of lilacs, reader of mysteries, collector of antiques. Gwen wore many hats and filled many roles. She was happiest at home spending time with her loved ones and pets.

Gwen was always a country girl. As a child she lived in Tilton, N.H. on a dairy farm. She loved the Oxford Hills area for vacationing and moved to Oxford from North Reading, Mass. in 1984. She loved Pismo Beach in Oxford and walking the Maine coastline. “Kind” is the word most often used by those who knew her when asked to describe Gwen.

An intimate service for immediate family members will be held at Highland Cemetery, in Poland, where she will rest peacefully among blossoms from her 17 varieties of lilacs. To share memories and condolences with the family please go to http://www.oxfordhillsfuneralservices.com. Arrangements are under the care of Oxford Hills Funeral Services, 1037 Main St., Oxford.

In memory of her and her kindness, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your favorite charity in her honor.
