Loraine Dallaire Pappas Lemieux

CONTOOCOOK, N.H. – Loraine Dallaire Pappas Lemieux, born Sept. 1, 1946 to Maurice and Annette Dallaire, died in Contoocook, N.H. on May 13, 2023, after a courageous two-month battle with pancreatic cancer.

Loraine grew up in Lewiston in a loving extended family environment. After graduating from Lewiston High School, class of ‘64, she attended Miami Dade College to study voice.

She worked with sight-handicapped children at Sacred Heart School with the Sisters of St. Joseph, and was a waitress at the Chuck Wagon before eventually moving to New Hampshire.

Loraine had a quick wit and unique sense of humor. She loved lobster, music, Broadway musicals and basking in the sun at Old Orchard and Hampton Beaches. She was a whiz at crossword puzzles and enjoyed working with ceramics. Additionally, she loved to knit and made numerous afghans for family members.

The loving compassionate care given to Loraine by Laurie Pappas and nurse Angela from Hospice Granite VNA eased Loraine’s transition from her earthly life to a heavenly one.

She is survived by her two sons, Stuart and his wife Laurie Pappas and Anthony Pappas; her grandchildren Kristin, Katie, Jacob, Nicholas and Brandan; her great-grandchildren Kaden, Camron, Graisyn and Charlotte; and her longtime companion, Richard Nowakowsky, all of New Hampshire; and by her sister, Susan Lagueux and husband Raymond of Lewiston; her niece, Angelique Kania and nephew, Robert Lagueux of Massachusetts; and several cousins.
