To the Editor:
We live in a generous community! Even in harder times, people reach out to support worthy causes, and I would like to thank all those who donated their gifts so generously to  our annual fundraiser, Flowers for Food.  Thousands of daffodils were picked, bundled and offered for three weekends, at Otis Federal Credit Union, Berry Fruit Farm, and Food City. Many cheerful volunteers were available for the opportunity to donate – any gift desired. People gave generously and some did  not take the flowers – this allowed us to pass on their flowers to those who could not give – a win-win!
Our local restaurants, LaFleur’s and the Chuck Wagon both brightened their dining tables for Mother’s Day with our daffodils.
All  together the donations reached over $2,300 – a  record-breaking total. Every dollar given goes directly to our local food cupboard, where flowers can become food!
If anyone missed an opportunity to give, they may still send checks to [new name –same services] Food Cupboard Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls [FCJLLF], PO Box 214, Livermore Falls ME 04254 and they will receive a tax receipt, if requested, and a thank you note.
My heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful volunteers who helped me pick and prepare the daffodils and to those who helped with the sales. It takes many individuals to make this a successful fundraiser. To all the donors, and all the helpers – God bless you all!
