Are you aware how many older adults suffer from falls in their own homes? There are any number of potential hazards that you probably never think about. The National Institute on Aging offers an exhaustive list of things to watch for in your own home (https://www.nia.nih.gov/health/preventing-falls-home-room-room).

Want some personal help with the search? Brie Weisman, a local licensed Occupational Therapist, is a special AFCI partner. We sponsor Brie – free of charge – to perform a comprehensive analysis of your own home and tips on simple fixes, as well as your personal capacity to protect yourself. To schedule, call Brie directly: 364-7056‬.

Remember that AFCI’s N2N (Neighbor to Neighbor) Rides Program can take you to all the activities noted below or to medical appointments or for shopping, educational or social outings. Call our service number (below).

The AFCI Resource Directory, a valuable guide to all kinds of services available locally and throughout the state, can be accessed through our website or you may request a pdf copy.

Call 824-4444 to ask for a Handy Neighbor crew to do some yard or garden cleaning – a free AFCI program.

Now that we’re able to walk outdoors, pick up a copy of the (free) AFCI “Walking Bethel” map at many sites throughout the community. And of course, there’s the Bethel Parkway Walking Trail and the Mahoosuc Land Trust’s Valentine Farm handicap-accessible trails.
