WCC Garden services return

WATERFORD — Waterford Congregational Church UCC (WCC) is delighted to announce the return of monthly garden services for the 2023 season. These four special services will take place on May 28, June 25, July 23, and August 20 in the churchyard meditation garden at 15 Plummer Hill, Waterford Flat, beginning at 9:30 a.m. “Gathering outdoors in the midst of nature’s wonders is an opportunity to find peace and renewal in our busy, challenging lives. Our natural world is often the place where spirit and wonder weave into our daily lives in ways that open us up to possibility and hope. Joining in a space where there are no walls that separate us from the world reminds us of our oneness with creation and with one another,” says Reverend Doretta Colburn.

The first garden service of the season falls on Pentecost Sunday (May 28), or, 50 days after Easter. Early Christians celebrated the presence of the Holy Spirit coming into the world on Pentecost. WCC’s Pentecost service will focus on renewal of life, celebrating the coming warmth of summer and the interconnectedness of community. Deacon Pam Williams notes that the meditation garden will be adorned with red geraniums for the occasion, and a coffee hour to enjoy community will follow the service.

The WCC congregation enjoyed welcoming dozens of friends, neighbors, and visitors to garden services last summer, and looks forward to seeing new and familiar faces again this year. All are truly welcome. For more information visit wccucc.com, or leave a message at (207) 583-6381 and your call will be returned.
