Dr. Raymond C. Sirois D.D.S.
AUBURN – Dr. Raymond Sirois, 92, of Auburn, passed away recently. He was born in Lewiston, son of the late Henry and Euphemie (Caron) Sirois.
Ray attended Lewiston High School graduating in 1950 where he was active in basketball and baseball. Upon graduation, he attended the University of Toledo in Ohio on a basketball scholarship, graduating cum laude.
Ray married Claudette (Claudie) Nadeau and moved to Philadelphia, Pa. to attend Temple University School of Dentistry, specializing in children and young adults. After graduation, they returned to Lewiston where Ray practiced for 40 years.
Ray, affectionately known as “Doc” or “Gramps” was active in Boy Scout Troup 111 when Ted White was the Scout leader. During that time, he approached friends and local businesses to raise thousands of dollars to ensure that all scouts in that troop were able to attend Camp Hinds in the summer. Ray was especially proud when his two sons achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Ray also encouraged his two daughters in their scouting, and they became Junior Maine Guides.
Ray was an avid bridge player. He took pleasure in attending the Maine State Theatre with his family. Doc also enjoyed many years of tennis, swimming, working out at the YMCA and shooting ‘hoops’ in his younger years with family and the children’s friends.
Dr. Sirois is survived by his spouse; and four children, Raymond (Channy) Sirois of New Hampshire, Claire (Mike) Armstrong of Colorado, Elaine Blackwood (Bill Plourde) of Auburn, Paul (Carmen) Sirois of California; grandchildren, Heather, Jason, Alyssa M, Jake, Emily, Kate, Natalie, Audrey and Alyssa S; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Grayson, Kenna and Margot; sister, Lorraine Bennett of North Yarmouth, sister-in-law, Joyce Sirois of Boothbay; and many nieces and nephews.
