To the Editor:
Over the past many weeks, it was called to my attention that no one, to date, had voiced any interest in the position of Greenwood selectman. From time to time, I would ask if anyone had come forward and the answer was always the same, not as yet.
As town meeting drew closer and still no volunteers, I was eventually asked if I might consider running for the position and it was noted that my past 13 years as a selectman would be very helpful at this point in time. After days of pondering the idea, my willingness to help Greenwood came into play and I consented to putting in my name. On the day of the town meeting, a man named Robert Oickle, whom I had never met, approached the podium, gave an overview of his background, and announced his willingness to serve on the Board.
Upon hearing his remarks, I was very impressed and personally felt he would make a great addition to the Board. In hindsight though, I should have withdrawn my name and didn’t. Caught between friends and other circumstances. In the grand scheme of things, it all came out very well, I was able to keep my promise to run, Greenwood has a new Board member, and now onward into the future.
Thank you, Bob!
