LEEDS — An unnamed victim with gunshot wounds was transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston on Sunday afternoon, according to police officials.

Dispatch chatter directed Turner Rescue and Androscoggin County Sheriff Office deputies to Red Roof Grocery at 118 U.S. Highway 202 in Leeds at about 4 p.m.

Sheriff Eric Samson said his office notified the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit after learning the altercation possibly took place in Kennebec County. The victim was “not overly cooperative” and is still being interviewed at CMMC as of Sunday evening, he said.

Samson said he could not immediately share the victim’s identity pending investigation.
