GREENWOOD — Sisters Madeline and Lily Lewis were the Poppy Girls for the Jackson-Silver Post 68 American Legion in Greenwood this year. Lily was one of five Woodstock Elementary School 5th graders to read her Memorial Day essay at the Daughters of Union Veterans Memorial Day celebration.

They are the daughters of Woodstock Deputy Clerk Tonya Lewis and her husband, John.

Jackson-Silver Post 68 conducted ceremonies at the Post in Locke’s Mills, then held a brief ceremony at the East Bethel Cemetery, and participated in the Woodstock Daughters of Union Veterans ceremonies.  “Three towns in one beautiful day of Remembrance,” said Legion Commander Harry Orcutt.

Orcutt’s speech can be read at www.bethelcitizen.com
