Richard R. Bonnevie

AUGUSTA – Richard R. Bonnevie, 76, of Jay, better known as “Dick” to his friends and “Pep” to his grandchildren and great-grandson, passed away on his own terms, peacefully, June 7, 2023, with his family at his side.

Dick was born on Oct. 14, 1946, in Lewiston, the only child of Raymond E. and Rita (Fournier) Bonnevie. He was a 1964 graduate of Jay High School and was a member of the high school football team.

On May 20, 1967, he married Diane Austin. He was employed at International Paper Co. for many years. A lifelong resident of Jay, he will be remembered as a quiet, caring, humble man who took great pleasure in enjoying the simplest things in life: playing his guitar, watching sports or a good western show on television, hunting, riding his side by side, perfecting the art of lawnmowing, and tending to his yard. He always enjoyed going “upta camp”, (son Troy’s camp) in Flagstaff. Some of his greatest joys were time spent with and attending the activities of his grandchildren, particularly their sporting events, and time spent with his great-grandson.

He is loved by his wife of 56 years, Diane of Jay; their two sons, Mark Bonnevie and his companion Andrea of Turner and Troy Bonnevie and his wife Dixie of Jay; his grandchildren, Mallory Keene and her husband Zach and their son Julian of Turner; Zachary Bonnevie and his companion Seve Deery of Cumberland; Mallory and Zachary’s mother; Tina Rowe, of Temple; Sydney Bonnevie and Shayna Bonnevie, both of Jay.

In keeping with Dick’s personal request, his services will be private for immediate family only.

Tributes and condolences may be shared in his Book of Memories at http://www.wilesrc.com. Wiles Remembrance Center of Jay is honored to care for Dick’s services.
