Paul R. Roy
LEWISTON – Paul R. Roy, 82, of Lewiston, passed away unexpectedly at Central Maine Medical Center on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.
Born in Lewiston on Dec. 28, 1940, he was the son of Ovila and Annette Marcotte Roy. Educated in local schools, he was a graduate of Lewiston High School, class of ‘60. On June 2, 1962, he married the love of his life, Marielle Roy.
Paul was a firefighter for the City of Lewiston for 33 years and the owner of Roy’s Bike Shop. Paul can be described in many ways: Devoted and loving husband to Marielle; Hard-working and ever-present for his children; Doting and proud grandpa to his seven grandchildren; Supportive colleague to all of his firemen brothers; Fun-loving friend to all; The life of the party; The joker; The storyteller; The teacher; The mentor. Paul loved his wife and family foremost and would go over and above to help anyone in need.
He was an incredibly talented mechanic and an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing, hunting and gardening, and imparted his skills to his children and grandchildren.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Marielle, originally of Canada; two sons, James Roy of Lewiston and Jason Roy and his spouse Diane Carney of Poland, two daughters, Tammy Caron of Lewiston and Jennifer and her husband Billy O’Donnell of Las Vegas, Nev.; seven grandchildren, Ethan, Allison, Austin and Emily O’Donnell and Zoë, Otis and Ella Caron. Paul is also survived by two brothers, Joseph “Eddie” Roy and his wife Connie of Lewiston and Richard “Dicky” Roy and wife Venise of Portland.
He was predeceased by his parents; a son-in-law, David Caron; and two brothers, Gene Roy of Lewiston and Jerry Roy of Colorado.
