LEWISTON — There will be several street closures Friday and Saturday as bikers and support vehicles arrive at Bates College during the Trek Across Maine to raise money for the American Lung Association.

Between 7 a.m. Friday and noon Saturday, Central Avenue will be closed from Russell Street to Campus Avenue. Campus Avenue will also be closed between Central Avenue and College Street for the duration. 

Cyclists will arrive from the Brunswick area Friday via South Lisbon Road. They will take a right on Old Lisbon Road/Webster Street, then a slight left onto Sabattus Street, right on Franklin Street, right on Campus Avenue and left on Central Avenue as they arrive at Bates College at the end of their first day of the three-day event. 

They will depart from 7-9 a.m. from Central Avenue. They will take a right on Campus Avenue, left on College Street, right on Frye Street, left on Main Street and continue over Longley Bridge into Auburn.

In Auburn, cyclists will go from Great Falls Plaza, up Hampshire Street, onto Gamage Avenue, left on Park Avenue, right on Court Street, continuing on Manley Road/Hotel Road, to Lewiston Junction Road, and left on Empire Road as the trek heads to its second-day conclusion at St. Joseph’s College in Standish.

On the third day, cyclists will head back to Thomas Point Beach in Brunswick.
