Moffett plans to enter her freshman year this September at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine and will pursue a degree in pediatric nursing and holistic medicine.

The scholarship committee found Moffett to possess all the necessary qualities its members felt would allow her to achieve a high level of success in her college and life pursuits. The interview of Moffett left the committee overwhelmed with her healthcare knowledge and the desire she indicated to succeed, according to a news release from Tom Curtis.

This scholarship was started in 2014 to honor Curtis’ late wife Diane, who succumbed to metastatic breast cancer after a 10-plus-year battle. The $1,000 annual scholarship is given to a student in either Oxford County (where Diane resided) or Androscoggin County (where Diane received her medical care) who desires to pursue a career in the medical field.

Recipients must complete an application form discussing community and volunteering activities in which they have been involved, the leadership roles they have undertaken and displayed, a transcript of high school or college grades, at least two letters of recommendation, and the reasons behind the applicant’s decision to pursue a medical career.
