PARIS — The Select Board on Monday approved the purchase of a vehicle for the Fire Department and two cruisers for the Police Department, if voters approve at the annual Town Meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The three 2023 V6 Ford Police Interceptors will be purchased from Commander Fleet in Ronkonkoma, New York. According to Police Chief Michael Dailey, the company also operates a satellite office in Maine.

The Fire Department vehicle will be gray, while the Police Department’s cruisers will be black.

Once approved, the SUVs will be available in four to five weeks, compared to six to eight months from a competing company in Massachusetts, Fire Chief Mark Blaquiere said.

The Police Department will be replacing a 2013 Ford Taurus and a 2014 Ford Interceptor, while the Fire Department will replace its 2014 Interceptor.

Dailey said his department will also have to replace outdated computers in its vehicles. The new computers would be tablets, which would be more functional for the officers to take photos and type out reports and citations.

Dailey hopes to get a grant to help pay for some or all of the computers.

In other business, the board accepted the packet of information for the park grant from the state’s Community Development Block Grant. The packet for the $70,000 grant includes guidelines the town needs to follow. Funds will be used for benches, tables at Moore Park and a pavilion, benches and tables at 1 Paris River Park.

Selectman Peter Kilgore was appointed to the Park Grant Ad Hoc Committee, along with Jacalyn Lynch, Carol Rice, Lynda Knowlton, Rusty Brackett, Teresa Drag and Richard Hatch.

The board voted to close the Town Office on Monday, July 3.
