Stanley B. Hill

TURNER – Stanley B. Hill, 71, of Turner, passed away on Saturday June 10, 2023, at his home in Turner. He was born on Feb. 22, 1952, the son of Robert and Beryl (Barton) Hill.

Stan was a proud alumni of Leavitt Area High School and the University of Orono, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. Stan worked in sales at W.D. Matthews for many years. On Dec. 15, 1979, he married Gale C. Glover. When Stan was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 1996, he promised he would survive to see his son graduate from college, to dance with his daughter at her wedding, and to see his wife’s hair turn gray. He was blessed to do all that, as well as to become the grandfather of two granddaughters.

A hardworking, good, reliable man, Stan touched the lives of many in the Turner community. He was always determined to put his handyman skills to use, at home or with friends and family. He also lent encouragement to others struggling with pancreatic cancer through phone calls and emails as far away as England and Brazil. As well as being a vintage car enthusiast, Stan enjoyed camping, hiking, road trips, and kayaking with his family. He enjoyed Sunday carriage rides with his retired harness racer, Sugar Hill Maxx.

Stan is survived by his wife of 43 years, Gale Hill of Turner; their son and his wife, Kade and Alison Hill and their children Georgia and Phoebe; their daughter and her husband, Morgan and Derek Young; his brother and his wife, Alan and Rachel Hill; and his many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Beryl Hill, nee Barton.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Keene’s Mill Cemetery, North Parish Road, Turner, Maine. Arrangements by FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 15 Church Street, Livermore Falls, Maine.
