Maxine Curtis Leighton
POLAND – Living her entire life on the Brown Road in Poland, Maxine’s largest enjoyments in life were spending time with her family, whether it be a cookout, a birthday, holiday get-togethers, but most importantly a birthday.
Maxine always sought out the best in everyone regardless of their backstory, gave people chances they probably didn’t deserve, never held a grudge, and was a true testament to values that rarely exist this day and age.
She will be forever remembered for these attributes and that of the love for her family, which was unparalleled by anyone, always putting them first and rarely raising her voice… regardless of what they did, pulled, or got themselves into, unless it was during a Celtics, Red Sox, or Bruins game, in which case she raised her voice a lot. Were we all slightly more like Maxine, the world would be a much better place.
She will always be missed by those she is survived by, her children Lynda and Will; grandchildren Jesse and Cyrus; daughter-in-law, Becki; loving nephews; and the rest of her family. May she rest in peace.
A graveside service will be held at the Highland Cemetery on Megquier Hill Road in Poland on June 24 at 11 a.m. Arrangements are under the care of Chandler Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 26 W. Dwinal St., Mechanic Falls.
