LISBON — Town Councilors approved a $12.6 million municipal budget Tuesday night.
The approved budget is a 15% increase from the current spending plan of $10.9 million and includes the addition of two full-time firefighters and a tax collector to municipal staff.
Town Manager Glenn Michalowski said Tuesday that the tax rate is projected to increase by about $1.50 per $1,000 of assessed value, or $300 for a property valued at $200,000, under the proposal. The exact increase will not be known until July, he said.
Since a $12.1 million budget was initially proposed to the Town Council in March, nearly half a million dollars in additional expenses have been added, including $436,000 for paving, Michalowski said. This funding is included in the town’s capital improvement plan, but was initially taken out due to concern for the tax rate increase, he said.
