Kingfield author Annie Louise Twitchell announces the release of her fourteenth title, “The People We Know: Volume One.” The book is a collection of short stories and essays. Written largely during the COVID-19 pandemic, she hopes “these pieces offer an uplifting and encouraging view into the world in which we live.”

“Working in rural Maine, I see a lot of the ‘in-between’ moments in our small communities,” Twitchell said. “I can’t always share these little stories but they’re still stuck in my head, and that is where the inspiration for “The People We Know” first came from. I started by taking a small snapshot from real life and building a fictional story around it, and I’ve been surprised at how much people have loved reading these stories. I’m just a girl from Maine, and to have my stories read and appreciated by people around the world is just amazing.”

Twitchell, an award-winning writer, poet, artist, photographer, journalist, and first responder, is an active member of her community and seeks to promote the arts, particularly creative writing, for young people. Twitchell presents regularly in local schools to share about her career in writing and the challenges she navigates as a writer with dyslexia and ADHD. When she is not scribbling down words or getting into mischief, she can usually be found wandering around the woods and mountains of Maine’s high peaks.

Her other works include “Larry the Library Moose,” a children’s book about a moose who loves to visit the library, and multiple poetry collections.
