Maurice O. Daigle

RUMFORD – Maurice O. Daigle, 89, died Friday June 16, 2023 at the VA Hospital in Togus. He was a resident of Eaton Hill Road in Rumford.

Maurice was born in Mexico on Aug. 11, 1933 and was a son of Lazare and Rose (Turmel) Daigle. He was a graduate of Mexico High School and served in the U.S. Army as SP3 from 1954 to 1956. Maurice worked as a Millwright for Boise Cascade Paper Mill in Rumford. He was a member of the Napoleon Ouellette Post #24 American Legion, Robert Shand Post #1641, VFW and the Eagles Club.

Maurice was married on Feb. 20, 1954 to Patricia Bradley who died in Rumford on March 9, 2022.

He is survived by his daughters Gloria Patenaude and husband Roland of Rumford, Brenda Poirier and husband James of Peru, Bridget Daigle-Ellis and husband Edward of Madawaska, Deborah Varnum and husband Diamond of Carthage, a son, Theodore Daigle and companion Margaret Daley-Wing of Mexico; 13 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Annette Daigle of Norridgewock.

He was predeceased by a son, Maurice J.; grandson, Randy Malchisky and granddaughter, Brandi Daigle.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday June 24 at the Parish of the Holy Savior St Athanasius – St John Church, 126 Maine Ave., Rumford. Interment will be in St John Cemetery in Rumford.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Meader and Son Funeral Home, 3 Franklin St., Rumford.
