The state Legislature is set to vote on increasing the scope of ranked-choice voting, and I certainly hope its members wake up and vote it down.
My reasoning is that I think ranked-choice voting is the largest “legal” voter fraud mechanism around.
People should think about it. If a candidate in a heated three-way race wants to assure a win, all he/she has to do is get their supporters, committee members, etc. to gather or organize a drive to find enough individuals — who would normally vote for them — to vote for the underdog and list their prime candidate as second choice.
People get to vote twice instead of the usual one vote per person and swing the vote.
It’s not as difficult as it seems, after all, we know how powerful certain groups backing a candidate are.
It’s food for thought.
