Linda Elizabeth MacDormand

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. – Linda Elizabeth MacDormand, 79, of Milford, N.H. passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023, at the Cedar Healthcare Center. She was born in Bath on Feb. 28, 1944, the daughter of Herbert and Evelyn Perry Nickerson.

She graduated from Gould Academy in Bethel, Maine in 1963 and earned her Associates degree from Maine School of Nursing in Waterville, Maine in 1967. Linda was a licensed practical nurse working at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway, Maine, Exeter Hospital in New Hampshire and Seacoast area nursing homes.

She married Harry “Bruce” MacDormand on Sept. 30, 1967. She enjoyed going to the beach, craft fairs, shopping and playing tennis. She was a member of the Portsmouth Garden Club. Linda spoke lovingly of summers in Maine, as a child, at the Chute Homestead on Long Lake and looked forward to trips to Boothbay harbor at the Ocean Point Inn.

Linda is survived by her husband of Milford; her children Scott MacDormand (Julie), and Debbie Murphy (Seth); her grandchildren Tyler MacDormand, Colby MacDormand, Madalynn Murphy, Amelia Murphy and Violet Murphy; and her brother George Nickerson (Danna).

She was predeceased by her parents.

Funeral Services will be held at the West Parish Church in Bethel, Maine on Sunday, July 2, 2023 at 2 p.m. followed by interment at Riverside Cemetery in Bethel.
