Geraldine Lottie (Grant) Fosdeck

ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. – Geraldine Lottie (Grant) Fosdeck, 79, of St. Johnsbury, Vt. and formerly of Washington State, born and raised in Leeds, passed away on July 21, 2022.

Born to Bob and Clara Grant, Gerri grew up on Fairview Farm in Leeds with her siblings Terri, Bobbye, Larry, and Barry. She attended V.A. Deane and Garfield one-room schools, Leeds Central School, and graduated Leavitt Institute in 1961. She was involved with HillTop 4-H, the Presbyterian Church youth group, she worked at a local nursing home and some summers at Mingo Springs Resort in Rangeley.

Gerri was awarded “Wife of the Year” 1973 from the 75th Radar Squadron, Port Austin, Mich., selected for her outstanding work with Girl Scouts, Recreation of Handicapped, and many other community-minded activities for youth, including a Christmas party for the Handicapped from the Care State Home.

Gerri graduated college May 1980, then worked as an accountant and CFO, then retired in Washington as a Tax Accountant.

Gerri and Lou traveled the country between Lou’s assignments in Mississippi, New York, Michigan, Maine, Montana, Washington, Colorado, spent summers in New York and Maine, with stays at the family farm and even Florida during Lou’s remote tours to Alaska and Greenland. They spent a few years in Manteca, Calif., returned to Lakewood, Wash., and finally settled in Gig Harbor, Wash.

After Lou’s passing, Gerri moved to Vermont where she treasured spending time with her extensive family and friends in Vermont and Maine, with trips to Washington, Georgia, and California, while keeping us all well fed. She adored her summers at Pleasant Pond, loved gardening, wildlife, travelling the country, bargain shopping, and filling packages to send to her great-granddaughter. She cherished growing up with her cousins Kenny, Art, Lois, and her lifelong friendship of shared laughter with Marcia Gilbert.

Gerri is survived by her children Terri Ann Fosdeck Grant (Byron), Ruth Marie Fosdeck Brooks (Tom), Weston Don Fosdeck, and Duane Eric Fosdeck (Stephanie); her grandchildren Tristess and Valyn Grant, Alex and Kyle Fosdeck, Sierra and Thomas “T.J.” Brooks, and Colby Fosdeck; her great-grandchild, Callie May Grove Grant; her sister and brothers, Roberta “Bobbye” Grant Thurston (Dan), Larry A. Grant and Barry M. Grant (Kiyoka); and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, USAF Master Sgt. Louis Robert Fosdeck; and their son, Louis Robert Fosdeck Jr. “Robbie”; her parents, Robert Western Grant and Clara Julia Kilbreth Grant; and her sister, Theresa Grant Blumen.

A remembrance memorial will be held at the Grant family cottage on Pleasant Pond in Turner on July 23, beginning at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers Gerri hoped guests would consider donations to St. Jude or others suggested in her Facebook posting.
