Richard E. Couillard
AUBURN – Richard E. Couillard passed away quietly the morning of June 26, 2023 at Clover Manor. He was 83.
“Dick”, as he was known, was born in Lewiston March 20, 1940 to Richard R. and Antoinette L. (LaFontaine) Couillard. Dick was educated in local schools and remained a life long resident of the community. On April 18, 1964 he married the former Pauline Lepage of Lewiston at Holy Cross Church. They welcomed their daughter, Cheryl the following year and settled in Auburn to begin family life.
Dick followed the footsteps of his father and became an electrician. He worked for a few local contractors, but spent most of his time working for Roy I Snow, Inc. until his retirement. Throughout his career, Dick handled the electrical in many of Lewiston / Auburn’s buildings and homes. In summer, he loved to spend time outdoors gardening and the winter he could be found down in his basement making a beautiful piece of furniture. He was an avid woodworker.
He loved watching the Red Sox and Bruins play, but also enjoyed a good NASCAR race. Dick also enjoyed going to the Yarmouth Clam Festival and getting pier fries in Old Orchard Beach. He was a hard working husband and father who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
Dick leaves behind is wife of 59 years, Pauline Couillard of Auburn; and his daughter, Cheryl Couillard – Ames and her partner Scott Stowe of Dixfield.
At the request of the family, a private memorial service will take place at a later date.
The family wishes to thank the CMMC staff on M1, Clover Manor staff on the Belfast unit and Renee Fagone from CMMC internal medicine for their unconditional care and assistance during this difficult period.
