River Arts in Damariscotta invites artists to submit work to a juried show “Earth, Water, Sky.” The deadline for entry is 4 p.m. Saturday, July 29. Well known Maine artist and writer David Little is the juror.

Little, having studied studio art, art history and music, graduated with a Master of Arts and Master of Fine Arts degrees from the University of Iowa and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art from Southampton College. Little is known as a landscape artist and author of the art of Maine including “Art of Katahdin” and “Paintings of Portland, Maine,” according to a news release from the gallery.

The theme “Earth, Water, Sky” is open to personal interpretation by the artists and may include realistic as well as abstract works. This is a popular summer show drawing broadly on the Maine landscape. All media including but not limited to painting, sculpture, photography, and fiber may be entered.

Artists can enter either two pieces with a size limit of 20 inches including frame or one larger piece with a size limit of 48 inches including frame. For members the entry fee is $15 and for nonmembers $30. All submitted works must be for sale and River Arts retains 35% commission on sold works. Artwork to be considered must be delivered in person during regular business hours. Entry forms are available in the gallery at 36 Elm St. or on the gallery’s website riverartsme.org.

The opening reception will be Saturday, August 5. The show will run until Sept. 2.
