Marie Rena Therese (Renaud) Laurendeau
AUBURN – On June 30, 2023, Therese Laurendeau passed peacefully from a short illness. She was born Dec. 22, 1927 in Lewiston. She was the daughter of Albert and Cezarie Renaud.
Therese was 95 years old with beautiful snow-white hair. Her late husband was Dominique Laurendeau who owned the Ritz diner on Lisbon Street years ago. In fact, that was where she met her future husband when taking a lunch break from the Bates Mill. They soon married in 1949 at Saint Peters Cathedral. They shared 55 years together and five girls.
Therese worked for a few years at Bates Mill, where she occasionally had to pull her hair out of the spindles. Inspired to leave, she devoted herself as a stay-at-home Mom to her five girls. Her first born, Rachel lived in California most of her life; Carmen and her husband Ron Carrier live in Sabattus and Joline also lives in Sabattus, Joan lives in Harpswell, and her youngest, Pauline and spouse, Gail Biron live in Florida. She also has a grandson Jeff Montigny, partner Cora Ann Giles, and four great-grandchildren, Kyle, Ryan, Olivia and Lizzy Montigny who live in Massachusetts.
Therese was preceded by her sister, Lilliete (Bobby) Renaud Cliche and brother, Leo Renaud.
She enjoyed spending the holidays with her family. The table was always full of so much delicious food, which she happily no longer had to cook. What she really wanted to do was to play a good game of TOC and always won 99 percent of the time. She was a tenacious TOC player and her children could not outwit her. She also enjoyed salmon pie, meat pie, fish chowder from Governor’s restaurant in Lewiston, doing puzzles, watching her beloved Red Sox and of course definitely, always, her soap operas.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on July 7 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. immediately followed by a funeral service at 12 p.m. at The Fortin Group Lewiston, 70 Horton St., Lewiston. A committal service will follow at 1 p.m. at St. Peters Cemetery in Lewiston.
