The Norway Country Club Ladies Golf Association plans to hold its 10th annual Drive Out Cancer Golf Tournament on Thursday, Aug. 10, at Norway Country Club, 310 Waterford Road in Norway.

The tournament will begin at 8:30 a.m.

This four-person ladies scramble is hosted by the association. The cost is $65 per player. There will also be a silent auction and basket raffle.

Proceeds from this event will be donated to the Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine. This non-profit, located at 59 Winter St. in Norway, serves anyone impacted by cancer in the Oxford Hills and surrounding communities, including Bridgton and Rumford.

The center offers free in-person and virtual programs, classes, support groups, travel and food assistance, plus a variety of comfort items. This fundraising event includes a ladies’ 18-hole scramble, basket raffle and silent auction, according to a news release from Suanne Craib with the association.

Members of the association will be asking friends and businesses in the Oxford Hills and surrounding area for monetary donations and items for the silent auction and raffle. Individuals or businesses can sponsor this tournament by choosing to be a bronze sponsor for $250, a silver sponsor for $500 or a gold Sponsor for $1,000.

These sponsors will have their name on a sign by the club house and listed in the program. For $125 a business or individual may be a tee sponsor and have their name posted on a sign at a golf tee.

The ladies also collect a variety of items and gift certificates from local restaurants, golf courses and stores in the area to put in their silent auction and basket raffle. The public can place bids and purchase raffle tickets the week before the tournament up until the golf tournament begins. All winners will be announced after lunch on that day.

For more information about the tournament, donation, auctions and raffle, call Craib at 207-802-0226. There will be a sheet at the golf course for ladies to sign up.
