AUBURN – M.Jean Hodgkins, 96, of Auburn, died on July 3, 2023 at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn Jean was born on Oct. 16, 1926 in Livermore Falls to Everett and Winnifred (Matthews) Wardwell

Jean’s happiest moments were spent with her family, “Aren’t we having a good time!” was often spoken. In younger years she loved to glide around the dance floor with former husband Merle and to vacation in the Allagash with best friend Gemma, fishing and picking blueberries. Mom tended her beautiful flowers, fed the many visiting birds, and kept a lovely home she shared with longtime partner, Jack, in Norway where all were welcome.

Jean graduated Livermore Falls high school with high honors at the age of 16. Immediately following she attended the Rumford Nursing School where she graduated with high honors as a registered nurse. The bulk of her career was spent as the OB/GYN Nurse of Drs James and Lidstone in Auburn, where she was well known and highly respected in her community.

Predeceased by parents; son Michael Hodgkins; former husband Merle Hodgkins, longtime partner Jack Bray; son in law Joseph Childs; and siblings Rodney Wardwell and Rita Bailey

Survived by daughters, Merle Hagelin (John) Hoover, Stephanie (Scott) Worthing, Darcie Childs and partner Al Croteau; grandchildren, Chris (Lauren) Hagelin, Jesyca Hagelin (Ben) Hafernan, Michael (Stephanie) Pratt, Deidre (Mark) Gilbert, Kaytlen Davis; and six great grandchildren.

Visiting hrs on July 14 from 4-7 at Funeral Alternatives 25 Tampa St Lewiston. Private family burial on July 15, 11 a.m. at Pleasantview Cemetary Livermore Falls
