SABATTUS – Mona Rose Clavette Dionne, 76, passed away on July 9, 2023, surrounded by family after an illness.
Mona was born on June 25, 1947, the daughter of Alfred and Isabelle (Viel) Clavette. She was born at La Montagne de La Croix, New Brunswick, Canada.
Mona came to Lewiston at the age of 15 and lived with her sister. She found a job in a shoe shop, and later worked at Intown Manor, which she enjoyed very much. When Intown Manor closed she then went to work at Russell Park until her retirement.
On Aug. 21, 1971, she married Donald Dionne and together they made a home in Lewiston and then Sabattus, where they had five children. Mona liked to do puzzles, make quilts, and read. She loved to babysit her grandchildren. She loved watching baseball. Mona’s one wish was for her children and grandchildren to love one another. She did not choose favorites and adored all of her children, grandchildren and her great-grandson.
Mona is survived by her husband of 51 years, Donald Dionne; two daughters, Lucille Therrien and husband Rick, and Nicole Dionne and husband Cameron Morgan, two sons, Richard Dionne and wife Tracey, and Daniel Dionne and wife Chandra; eight grandchildren, Amber, Sophia and Lily Therrien, Emma and Jack Dionne, Henry Morgan, Collin Dudley and wife Christine, and Garrett Dudley; a great-grandson, Beckham Stone Dudley; a brother, Onile Clavette and wife Germaine, two sisters, Jeannelle Oakes, and Gaetanne Madore and husband Roland, a stepsister, Estelle Clavette; three godchildren, Tina Desrosiers, Ronald Madore and Derrick Doucette; and dozens of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mona was predeceased by her parents; firstborn son, Tommy; two brothers, Leonide and Fernand, and two sisters, Jeannette and Fernande.
Funeral services will begin 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 19 at the funeral home. Family and friends are invited to visit beginning at 9 a.m., two hours prior to services at the Pinette Dillingham and Lynch Funeral Home, 305 Alfred Plourde Parkway, Lewiston.
