RUMFORD – Simonne Bisson Rafuse, 93, of Rumford passed away at the Rumford Community Home on Monday, July 17, 2023. She was the wife of Richard R. Rafuse.

She was born on March 2, 1930, a daughter of the late Aime and Jeanne (Grenier) Bisson. SImonne attended St. John’s School and graduated from Stephens High School in 1948. She marries Richard, the love of her life, on Sept. 2, 1978.

She worked for 47 years at the Finishing Department and Process Control Laboratory at the Paper Mill in Rumford. She belonged to the twenty-five and forty year club of Boise Cascade.

Simonne loved to travel, especially to Europe, Aruba and Hawaii. She enjoyed ball room and line dancing, playing cards, gardening and going to yard sales. For many years she volunteered for the Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, she was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella and of the Senior Citizens Club of Rumford.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her sister Irene Dorr of North Myers, Fla., and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Rosaire Bissonand his wife Lola, Aurore Brown and her husband Harold, Lucienne Royce and her husband Dexter and a sister-in-law of the late Samuel Dorr.

The family wishes to thank the Rumford Community Home and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for the excellent loving care gave to Simonne in her final days.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at 10 a.m., at Holy Savior Church, 126 Maine Ave, Rumford. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Rumford.
