Mad Agnes, who has won hearts on two continents, will perform at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 4, at the Denmark Arts Center.

The trio uses primarily one microphone around which they form and re-form, early-radio style. Their ease with one another on stage invites the audience into their world of human connection and spontaneous fun. Well-crafted instrumentation – using guitars, mandolin, ukulele, piano, melodica, an inventive keyboard and three-part harmonies as tight as jeans from the dryer – enthralls audiences again and again. Mad Agnes is now recording their newest studio album, Likely Story.

Mad Agnes toured extensively from 2001-2011, including 4 separate UK tours ranging from 3 to 6 weeks. (The 2007 tour included performing a set at Fairport Conventions’s annual Cropredy Convention, England, for their 40th anniversary weekend festival.) The “Aggies” reformed in 2019, with a revised intimate format, and a desire to stay closer to home. They did a few shows in New England before COVID delayed their return to presenting live music, but it also served to solidify their commitment to each other and the music they make together. As one presenter once introduced them, “Together, the three of them make a great couple.”
