Margaret Almeida

AUBURN – Margaret Almeida, 79, of Turner, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, July 26, 2023, at Hospice House of Androscoggin in Auburn. She was born March 25, 1944, in Boston, the daughter of Francis Fandel and Doris A. (Churchill) Fandel. Margaret attended school in Florida. On June 30, 1963, in Whitman, Mass., she married Warren P. Almeida of Bridgewater. They enjoyed 31 years together before his passing on July 16, 1994. She worked at Boston Envelope, Chadwick’s and Foxboro Co. in Massachusetts and later as a greeter at Walmart in Auburn, Maine. Margaret was a member of the Red Hats Society. She loved Bingo, reading, painting, crocheting, and creating things in general. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and her many grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, John Almeida and wife Julia of East Taunton, Mass., Theresa Souza and husband Steven of Fairhaven, Mass., Susan Sharpe of Wareham, Mass., Dawna Macdonald of Middleboro, Mass., and Jeffrey J. Almeida and wife Monica of Turner, 18 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and her sister, Ruth Almeida of Whitman, Mass., and her brother, Ernest Morgan of Massachusetts, and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 12, at East Auburn Baptist Church, 560 Park Street, Auburn, Maine. Services and interment will be held at a later date at St. Thomas Aquinas, Bridgewater, Mass.
