Saco police are investigating the death of a woman who was struck and killed by a dump truck on Water Street near its intersection with Main Street Wednesday afternoon.
Kimberley Lavin, 56, of Saco, died at the scene despite life-saving measures provided by Saco Fire Department personnel, Deputy Chief Corey Huntress said in a statement Wednesday night.
Investigators say it appears that the dump truck driver, Rocky Irish, 59, of Biddeford, was making a left-hand turn onto Water Street from Main Street when he struck Lavin.
The crash, which remains under investigation by the Saco Police Department’s crash reconstruction team and the Maine State Police, occurred at 4:42 p.m. Traffic was rerouted around the intersection during the investigation.
