Library Director Lynne Ramsey at the Gardner Roberts Memorial Library in Hanover where pie Night on Aug. 17 will be held. Rose Lincoln/Bethel Citizen

HANOVER — Expect to eat dinner and dessert at Hanover’s Pie Night!

At 6 p.m. Aug. 17, homemade pies of every kind will be served in the shelter beside the Roberts Library. Director Lynne Ramsey said to expect pizza pies, quiche, fruit pies, and maybe even shepherd’s pie which was one of last year’s choices. “It’s always fun to see what people come up with,” she said.

Ramsey said if you don’t have a pie, you may still come.

She said she has posted a Pie Night poster at the Hanover post office and has sent an invitation to, “those that have ever darkened the door at the library.”

She said the pies don’t get judged they get eaten.

The library had a successful plant sale in May and a tea party in June. For the tea they used cloth tablecloths, ate cookies, scones, and cake. The cake’s icing said, “Time for Tea.” They used crystal and fine china. She said there was almost a teacup war at the end, because there was some confusion over who brought which tea cups.

The 10 library trustees and several “friends” of the library are planning a fall festival on Sat., October 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. At the festival, they will have a yard sale, crafters’ supply sale, raffle baskets and more. They will offer wishing well for children. Hamburgers, hot dogs and possibly pulled pork sandwiches.
