The Aging Brain: A Presentation on Dementia will be offered on Thursday, Aug. 17, by three libraries in Readfield, Monmouth and Greene.

Join this free event at one of three central Maine locations:

• 10 a.m. at Readfield Town Office, 8 Old Kents Hill Road;

• Noon at Cumston Public Library, 796 Main St., Monmouth, with light lunch provided; and

• 2 p.m. at Julia Adams Morse Memorial Library, 105 Main St., Greene.

This seminar on the aging brain helps alleviate “dementia worry” (aging anxiety) which develops as fear of developing Alzheimer’s disease or related conditions. The seminar is 1 hour in length, according to a news release from Mary Beth Paquette with AgingME GWEP.

Speaker Susan Wehry is a board certified geriatric psychiatrist with almost 40 years of experience. She is the director of AgingME, a Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Project to create a more age-friendly health system.

Speaker Grace Simonson is a medical student on the board of the Geriatrics and Palliative Care Club at UNE College of Osteopathic Medicine. Her clinical and personal experiences have made her passionate about dementia-care for older adults, and she is eager to join Wehry and AgingME in their mission.
