Lorraine I. Ducharme
GRAY – Lorraine I. Ducharme, 89, passed away on Aug. 5, 2023, surrounded by her family at Maine Medical Center.
Lorraine was born in Lewiston, on June 8, 1934, daughter of late Romeo and Florence (Huard) Caron. She was raised and attended school there until getting married to her husband, Robert N. Ducharme of 72 years. Together they built an amazing life together. Robert built a successful family business while Lorraine lovingly cared for their nine children along with many neighborhood friends. Lorraine volunteered for the school lunch program, was a member of several PTAs, volunteered in the Beano Kitchen at the Knights of Columbus where her tomato soup became a local favorite. She and Robert started a scholarship program for local high school graduates with the proceeds from the kitchen.
Lorraine’s greatest pleasure was having her family close so she was always smiling because family was always around her. She looked forward to family celebrations with Christmas Eve being her favorite gathering. She loved playing cards, shopping, going out to eat, dancing, reading and watching her favorite movies.
Lorraine was a devout catholic who started and ended every day with prayer. She loved attending mass and was part of Sacred Heart, St Philips, and most recently St. Gregorys.
The family sincerely thanks Maine Medical Center and Androscoggin Home Health for the compassionate care of Lorraine. The family also extends their gratitude to Stacey Bean who provided at-home care for both Bob and Lorraine. Stacey quickly became family and Lorraine loved, cared and prayed for her just like she did for the entire family.
Lorraine is survived by her husband, Robert Normand Ducharme, children: Patricia Samson, Gerard Ducharme, Theresa Gagnon, Susanne Bedard, Laurier Ducharme, Juliette McCullough, Raymond Ducharme and wife Terri, JoAnn Paladino and husband Daniel, and Brian Ducharme.
