PORTLAND – Dorothy E. Herrick “Dottie Ellen”, 70, of Poland, passed away Sunday July 23, 2023, at Maine Medical Center following a short illness.

She was born in Lewison on Aug. 10, 1952, the daughter of Jay and Phyllis French. She graduated from Edward Little High School, class of 1970, and married her high school sweetheart, Steven Herrick on Dec. 3, 1977. Together, they settled into their home and raised their two children, Chrissy and Nate.

She worked for 40-plus years at Maine Medical Center in the Radiology Department serving numerous positions until she retired as the Assistant Chief of Radiology in 2016.

Survivors include husband, Steven Herrick; daughter, Chrissy Lenahan (Jake Verrill), son, Nate Herrick (Angela Daicy); grandchildren Gavin and Gabby Lenahan (Lucas and Riley Verrill, Zack Terril); brothers Greg French (Sally), Stephen French (Brenda) and sister, Mary Kay Crooker (Stephen); several nieces and nephews; and those considered as loved ones.

She was predeceased by her parents; and two special aunts, Dorothy Rowbotham and Mary Sweeny.

Family and friends are invited to funeral services held at Chandler Funeral Home, 26 W. Dwinal St., Mechanic Falls on Saturday, Aug. 19 at 11 a.m. with visitation starting at 10 a.m. A small graveside service will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. All are welcome to share memories at the American Legion in Mechanic Falls following the service.
