Rumford Public Library plans to install a butterfly box.
Coming soon at Rumford Public Library will be a butterfly box to accompany the Plotted Plants Library Garden’s pollinator garden. “It will be a beautiful addition to our Plotted Plants’ pollinator gardens,” said Serena Theriault, library assistant and lead gardener of the library garden, according to a news release from the library.
The box will allow patrons to watch the natural life cycle of the monarch butterfly, from hatching eggs to release as adults.
Butterfly rancher Vanessa Child and her mother, Veronica, donated the butterfly box to the library, which was built by Elliot Knox. The Childs will offer their lepidopterology skills and assist staff members with raising the butterflies.
