“Moon Over Macquoit Bay” – Katherine Bradford, 8″ x 10″, Oil on canvas

NORWAY — Lights Out Gallery announces its inaugural show “Little Sparks,” at Maine’s historic snowshoe factory. This show will be a groundbreaking exhibition of over 100 Maine artists, including noteworthy names such as Lois Dodd, Katherine Bradford, Duncan Hewitt, Warren Seelig, Rose Marasco, and many others. This blowout show of small works will kick off the group’s crowdfunding campaign to replace the roof of the factory-turned-art center and put the structure back to use for the community again.

Since 2021, Lights Out has provided viewers with surprising, ambitious, and thoughtfully organized shows highlighting the vibrant art scene of Maine. In spaces from fine art galleries to redemption centers, their pop-up shows are a highlight for many art enthusiasts statewide.

At their new home at the snowshoe factory at 10 Tannery Street in Norway, the group has undertaken an art movement in Western Maine, transforming the industrial structure into a myriad of studios, a public park, and exhibition space. This show will begin a grassroots campaign to “Raise the Roof”, and garner public excitement for this transformational project. With a variety of price points, mediums, and styles, all works in the show will be for sale online at www.lightsoutgallery.org and in person.

Katherine Bradford’s painting “Moon Over Macquoit Bay,” will be auctioned off during the event to begin the group’s fundraising campaign. The auction will commence at the start of the opening, and end on September 7, at 11:59 p.m. Visit www.lightsoutgallery.org to place a bid, view show information, and learn more about the campaign.

The opening event will take place on Thursday, August 24, from 4-8 p.m. at 10 Tannery Street in Norway. Admission is free, and all members of the community are warmly invited to witness the magnitude and vigor of Maine’s art scene.
