PARIS — The Select Board on Monday unanimously approved a request from directors of Norway Paris Solid Waste Inc. to hold a public hearing on changing operating hours to give employees two consecutive days off.
The waste station and recycling facility at 39 Brown St. in Norway is closed Mondays and Thursdays.
“Who doesn’t like having two days off in a row?” Town Manager Dawn Noyes asked.
Mondays and Tuesdays seem like a likely scenario, but the board of directors of the quasi municipal corporation wants to get input from residents before determining which days to close. The two towns use the facility and need to agree to a change.
The public hearing will likely be held at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School in Paris, but the time and date have not been determined.
In other business, the board accepted the resignation of Rick Little from the Norway Paris Cable TV Committee and named former Selectman Russell “Rusty” Brackett to replace him.
Noyes reported that the Police Department is looking to replace its six-year-old Tasers. They do not always work, there are issues with parts and the batteries don’t keep a charge. Noyes said Police Chief Michael Dailey will have more information in the next few weeks.
Selectmen approved a liquor license renewal for xVault Pub & Provisions at 10 Market Square, Suite 1.
They also announced the Town Office will close Thursday, Sept. 21, for an election training workshop.
