Lewiston City Councilor Rick LaChapelle
LEWISTON — Ward 4 City Councilor Rick LaChapelle announces his candidacy for reelection.
According to his announcement, he “led the charge in making long overdue changes to more than 1,000 old zoning codes that have acted as an impediment to economic development and investment in Lewiston for decades.”
He said he also initiated Lewiston’s first official Senior Advisory Committee, which “prioritizes incorporating senior citizens’ unique needs, perspectives and historical experience into official policymaking processes.”
He also said that in keeping with his commitment to Lewiston’s seniors, he initiated “getting the stalled former Martel School housing project dedicated to senior citizens back on track, and is committed to seeing its completion.”
LaChapelle said he has “advocated for carefully considered and defined responses to Lewiston’s homelessness issue, in order to integrate responding to the need with protecting stability of the wider community.”
In addition to serving on many committees, he serves as vice chairman of the Lewiston Auburn Watershed Protection Commission, with an “unwavering commitment to protecting Lewiston’s water supply.”
During a second term in office, LaChapelle said he “looks forward to prioritizing safety and stability in the city for our citizens today and for the sake of our bright future tomorrow.”
LaChapelle is the owner of M&B LLC, Advanced Heating Solutions and Lewiston Pawn Shop. He is a past president of the McMahon School PTO and coached youth baseball, soccer and basketball.
