The West Paris Public Library plans to host Community Knitting for All Ages, a free three-week beginner/intermediate instructional series for all ages beginning Saturday, Sept. 9, at 226 Main St.

Local artist Donna Marshall of West Paris will facilitate. As a teen she fell in love with knitting and crocheting. She has experimented with cotton, wool and acrylic yarns, according to a news release from the library.

Classes run from 1-2:30 p.m. on the following Saturdays:
• Sept. 9 — Concentrate on learning basic knitting techniques and stitches for beginners. Learn to read a pattern;
• Sept. 16 — Choose a pattern to create; and
• Sept. 23 — Work on individual projects. Troubleshoot any knitting problems.

There is no charge to participate. Everyone will need to bring one pair of size 8, 9 or 10 knitting needles and a skein of four-ply wool or acrylic yarn.

To register, call 207-674-2004 or email librarian@westparislibrary.org.
