Jared Daniel Pelletier
AUBURN – Jared Daniel Pelletier “Jo Jo”, 29, born in Lewiston on Oct. 21, 1993, passed away with family by his side on Aug. 20, 2023, following a brief and courageous battle with cancer. He graduated from Edward Little High School in 2012 and most recently was employed with TD Bank.
Jared had a passion for sports, both as a fan and as an exceptional athlete. Jared grew up with an enthusiasm for playing soccer and ice hockey. He was a talented, dedicated, and humble leader serving as E.L.’s Ice hockey team captain his sophomore, junior and senior years and last two years as E.L.’s soccer captain. Following high school, Jared continued his passion for hockey by playing Junior Hockey in Ontario, Canada and in southern Maine. Although short in stature, his desire, grit, and heart were second to none.
His love of sports extended beyond the playing surface to following and rooting for his beloved New England sports teams: Bruins; Patriots; Red Sox and England’s Manchester United soccer team. He was also an avid sports memorabilia collector, primarily of hockey.
He loved the outdoors. A special place in Jared’s heart was Grand Lake Stream where he enjoyed many years camping, fishing, and kayaking with family and friends.
While sports, outdoor life and friends were important to Jared, it was his family that he cherished most. In April of 2021 his family was extended when he met his “soul mate” and later fiancée’ Laken Smith. Together they had a beautiful baby girl, Blake, whom he adored.
Jared is survived by his fiancée Laken Smith; daughter, Blake; parents William and Carol (Bosse) Pelletier; brother, Brendon Pelletier; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was predeceased by grandparents Roger Bosse, Gerard and Joline Pelletier; and uncle, Dr. John Pelletier.
Special thanks to Dr. Haney, the staff at New England Cancer Specialists in Topsham, and Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice for their sympathetic and compassionate care provided to Jared and the family during his illness.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Church in Lewiston, 607 Sabattus St. on Sept. 9 at 11 a.m. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at the Carriage House, 1119 Lisbon St. in Lewiston.
