With Week 1 looming, Jack Jones has taken care of his legal situation.

The Patriots cornerback – who prosecutors said brought two loaded guns into Logan Airport in Boston and tried to get them through TSA screening in a bag with his name on it – moved his court date up to Tuesday morning and agreed to a deal in Boston Municipal Court.

Jones agreed to one year of pre-trial probation and 48 hours of community service. He was initially charged with two counts each of possession of a concealed weapon in a secure area of an airport, possession of ammunition without a firearm identification card, unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, and possession of a large-capacity feeding device.

Jones could still be subject to the NFL’s personal conduct policy, so there’s no guarantee he’s available for the Week 1 game on Sunday against Philadelphia, but this is obviously very welcome news for the Patriots.

As the 25-year-old endured an up-and-down second training camp, he admitted it was tough to quiet the outside noise with everything that was happening off the field.

“At times it can be difficult, but I try not to let the outside affect what’s going on, on the field,” Jones said in August. “I just try to come out here and try to focus up on football and let the outside be the outside, and worry about that on the outside.”

CHIEFS: All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce suffered a hyperextended knee during practice, Coach Andy Reid said, and his status is uncertain as the Chiefs play Detroit on Thursday Night Football to open the season in Kansas City.

“We’ll just see how it goes,” Reid said.

Kelce is the Chiefs’ top receiving threat and Patrick Mahomes’ favorite target. He led the team with a career-high 110 receptions last season and is expected to play a major role again as the Chiefs work in several new receivers.

RAIDERS: Las Vegas defensive end Chandler Jones indicated in since-deleted social media posts that he no longer wanted to play for Coach Josh McDaniels and General Manager Dave Ziegler.

Jones’ agent, Ethan Lock, said he had no comment. An attempt to reach the Raiders for comment was unsuccessful. The Raiders return to practice Wednesday in preparation for Sunday’s season opener at Denver.

“It’s a shame that I am a top athlete with 112 sacks in the NFL and I have to go to a local gym to work out during the season for no apparent reason this is wild to me Josh and you know it you need to do what’s right,” Jones posted on Instagram.

It was unclear what timeframe Jones was referring to. He missed a stretch of recent practices because of an unspecified injury, but then returned last week. Regardless, he posted he didn’t “wanna play for the Raiders” if McDaniels and Ziegler were still in control.
